South Adams School Machine Trades Practice Contest

On Saturday, February 16, students from South Adams/Area 18 Machine Trades will participate with students from Four County Career Center (Kendalville), and Huntington North (Area 18) Machine Trades in the Skills USA regional contest at IVY Tech State College - Fort Wayne. The top five contestants will advance to the state competition on April 19 - 20.

To prepare for this contest a practice contest was held February 5 at the South Adams Machine Trades facility. Micromatic was present to observe and assist judging the practice competition.

On Friday February 15^th, we had Kolin Davis a Woodside Middle School student tour the Micromatic facility.

Kolin recently took a national math exam and finished in the top 5% in the nation.

He is also a member of an award winning Lego Robotics team that developed a facial expressions recognition robot for Alzheimer patients. His interests are in robotics but he is still undecided if that is the direction he wants to go in for a career.

Kolin was accompanied by Jack Gaylord a mentor for gifted students and a retired Mechanical Engineer from International Harvester.
